What kind of hat do you wear?

"For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." Romans 12:3

How many hats do you wear?

Are you a mother, father, brother, friend, baby-sitter, lawyer, co-worker, pastor, secretaty?

Today, we all have at least one title.

In the world that we live in today it is a very busy place.

We seem to have so many things to do, always in a hurry, yet never really accomplishing anything.

Do you overstretch yourself?

Do you have a hard time telling others "no"?

How many times do you leave god behind, just don't have time to spend with Him?

Personally, I think it's ok to stay busy, but there is such a thing as too busy.

Don't get so busy that your business distorts the image of God.

As of lately I had someone come up to me in church and ask me how many hats I wear.

My first reaction to that question was I don't wear any hats.

They proceeded to tell me that I everwhere they looked I was there doing something to help.

Basically what they were telling me was that just because I was busy helping and doing things in the church it gave me another hat.

I was kinda offended.

I am not doing things to show off.

So, when I was trying to study that night, I couldn't as this was bothering me.

So I started digging, looking for some answers.

I had to step back and take a long look at myself.

It is like looking into a mirror, what do you really see when you look at yourself?

My hearts cry, is Lord when they look at me, I don't want to be seen, but I want that Light that comes from you.

Let them only see You, when they see me.

When this person was looking at me, all they saw was all the things that I have done, or do.

We need to keep our eyes off the superficial circumstances and keep them on God!

So, as I was taking a look at myself, first I looked at my motives.

Were they pure?

Did I have other intentions than that of a servant?

Was I there to try to get ahead?

Was I there to make a name for myself?

Was I there to get closer to my Pastors?

Was I there to try and take someone's job away?

No!

You see, with me, God will place me in an area to help me learn.

He helps me learn better by doing.

I did not want to take there job.

There are lesson that we learn as we serve.

We learn how God's Word will strengthen us as we sevre.

We learn how to be faithful.

We learn how to on God's team.

We learn humility.

We learn discipline.

We are not just being discipled, but we are being groomed so we can help further God's Kingdom.

The most important thing is that you are just not sitting in the sanctuary and getting feed, but you are taking that and applying it to your spiritual walk.

There are so many aspects to learning.

The next time I seen this friend I had an answer to give.

I said, I do not wear many different hats!

I have two hats, one with my name and the other is servant.

This is what we are to do is serve.

It is not to step on peole to get your way to the top.

When we serve we get these little treasures that will keep us humble.

These treaures are to be stored in our heart not our head.

"Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." Proverbs 4:23

"A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth foth evil things." Matthew 12:35

When we think that we are the least vulernable that is when we are the most vulnerable.

We need to take that step back and listen to God.

Don't let your head get swelled from all the things that you do.

Let God be your light, when you do yopu will not need any other light.

As we serve we are making a sacrifice for our King.

When we serve we are reflecting the greatest message ever to be brought forth - it is that of the cross!

When we serve we are to be about His will, not ours!

It is through the cross that we live.

It is the power to transforms our hearts and minds.

"My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." Psalm 73:26
