Do you dwell on the past?
There is one fact that is true about all of us, we all have some sort of problem or another.
It depends on how long you dwell on those problems to how fast they get resolved.
Do you go to God for sustaining power of do you lean on your own understanding?
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2
Many of us forget that we can let the past be the past and move on.
There are many of us who live in the present, but still have the past attached.
It could be a past failure, abuse, past sin, past hurts, memories or even unforgiveness that has us in bondage.
One of my favorite stories about overcoming is about Joseph.
The one with the coat of many colors.
Joseph became the Prime Minister of Egypt.
Before he became Prime Minister he endured alot of trials.
His own flesh and blood was jealous and sold him into slavery.
Joseph was then taken to Egypt and was purchased by Potiphar.
"And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was aprosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand." Genesis 39: 2-3
Potiphar's wife falsely accused him, as she wanted him to lie with her.
Joseph ended up in prison.
While in prison he was given favor, "and the keeper of the prison commited to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the priso; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it." genesis 39:22
Man talk about all the persecutions, there was alot of bad memoriess there.
While in prison, he interpreted a dream for tha butler and baker of the king of Egypt, as they had offened their master and was thrown in prison.
Joseph interpreted the dreams with God's help and it came to pass just as he said.
The chief butler remembered Joseph, but forgot him.
Joseph satued in prison doing what god had called him to do at that time.
Two whole years went by and the butler remember thatjoseph could intrepret dreams.
There was no one else in the land that could tell Pharaoh's dream.
Pharaoh called for Joseph, cleaned him up and put fresh garments upon him, before seeing him.
Isn't that just like God to lift us up out of where we are, and give us His best.
Pharoah saw the gift of God in Joseph and made him second in command, next to him.
With all that Joseph went through, he could have looked back and played the blame game.
Joseph could have let those memories keep him from fully ralizing the promise that God had fro his life.
Joseph could have stayed in the land of bondage.
He did not, he forgave.
"But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." Genesis 50:20
Remember our life is supposed to be hid with Christ in God.
We are to press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
He who the Son sets free, is free indeed!
"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32
