How think ye?

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8

What do you think about when all is quiet and calm?

What goes through your mind?

Do you have thoughts of peace and joy or do you worry about things?

I know that when it is quiet I think on things that have happened the previous day.

Today, for instance I was walking outside and all of the sudden my mind went back to Sunday class.

My Sunday class teacher, who also happens to be my mentor, was talking about Matthew 6.

Yes, there are a lot of things in that chapter.

Each of us were asked to read the chapter before hand and to let her know what jumped out at us during class time.

It was an interactive class. These are the best.

We generally have them each week.

Anyway, what had jumped out at me was not what I am now thinking about.

It is usually after the fact that I really dig into what was said during class.

Delayed reaction, I know.

How many of you do the same thing?

It is those things on which we think that gear the reaction we have.

It goes back to the old saying; garbage in, garbage out.

Our mind is the most crucial part of us that needs to be transformed.

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2

Our mind must be renewed if we are to serve Him.

Our mind must be renewed if we are to have the mind of Christ.

God does not want us to lean on our own understanding, but to totally lean upon Him.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Proverbs 3:5

When we believe on Him, we are essentially agreeing with Him and trusting what He says, even over what we think.

When we don't believe Him, and we trust our own opinion above His, we have made an idol out of our own opinion.

We have to be careful and keep our eyes on Jesus!

We need to know where we are in Him.

As we renew our thinking with the Word we will start to see things happen.

Don't live in fear and anxiety, it will not produce victory.

Don't hang around those who are always full of fear, they will bring you down and back into bondage.

Anything that restricts your growth is bondage.

Our faith is what stands in the gap and takes us to the victory.

"For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." Romans 12:3

Without faith it is impossible to please God.

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6

We must enjoy what we are doing.

If we can not enjoy what we are doing, then we are most likely focused on what the devil is doing.

We can be deceived, full of fear and still love Jesus.

Fear is what connects you to bondage and will eventually trip you up.

There is only one thing to fear, and that is God Almighty Himself.

We are not to be afraid of Him, but rather we should have a reverence of Him.

"And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;" Isaiah 11:2
