When you need a refuge...
All of us at some point go through tests and trials.
If you have ever been overwhelmed by personal tragedy or comforted someone who has, then you know that the answers don't come easy.
There is help in the counsel and perspective of those who have gone before us.
I have come across this and wanted to pass it on...
Oswald Chambers writes:
I see no way out, says Job.
He lies down, not in weakness, but in absolute exhaustion.
Unless God will be a refuge for him, there is no way out; death is the only thing.
In every crisis of life, the Bible emphasizes, that "God is our refuge." (Psalm 46:1)
Yet until we are hit by sorrow, it is the last thing we seek for God to be.
Job is seeing for the first time that God is the only refuge, the only way out for him.
The only thing to do is fling himself on God.
We know nothing about redemption or about forgiveness until we are enmeshed by a personal problem.
We then begin to understand why we need to turn to God.
When we do turn to Him, He becomes a refuge and a shelter, a complete rest.
Up to the present Job has had no refuge anywhere; now he craves it.
When one receives the Holy Spirit, his problems are not altered, but he has a refuge, from which he can deal with them.
Before, he was out in the world being battered, now the center of his life is at rest and can begin, bit by bit, to get things uncovered and rightly related.

Will you let God be your refuge??
