True or False Love

Do you love others with a pure fervent heart?

"Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently." I Peter 1:22

The phrase unfeigned love means that it is a genuine love, with no pretense.

Did you know that the greatest sign of spiritual maturity is not gifts, not miracles, or any aspect of ministry, but that love that we are to have towards one another.

"This is My commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:12-13

Maybe at some point in your past you have encountered those that have pretended.

They say all the right things but their love was not that of the love of God, it was only skin deep.

In I Corinthians it talks of love telling us that love "beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."

In today's society we confuse love with lust.

God's love is directed outward toward others not inward towards our self.

God's love is not selfish.

God's love goes against our natural inclinations or natural disposition.

God's love helps us to set aside our own desires and instincts.

God's love helps us to give love while expecting nothing in return.

The more of God's love that we truly have in our hearts, the more we become like Christ, the more love that we will show to others.

In today's society we have lost the sight of the importance of demonstrating real love.

There is a lot of pretending love going on.

Just because there are counterfeits out there that is no reason for us to shun those things that are genuine.

If you need a comparison, just think about the counterfeit money.

The fact that there are counterfeits does not exclude me, or hinder from using the good ones that come into our possession.

There are good ones and bad ones, lets be sure that we are not the counterfeits.

Most of the time people do not ask God to bathe them in His love for people.

God has called us to be a people that are set apart.

"But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for Himself:" Psalms 4:3a

His gifts and miracles are meaningless without love.

God has called us to have that fervent love to others.

There are those whom some have called unlovely, those who would not be the first choice to lavish that love upon.

Some people say that....
I can love everyone except....
I do love them, but I hate their ways.
I love them, but I just don't want to be with them.

There is no exceptions in God!

If we truly loved people there would be no added clause.

When you sat that you don't want to be with someone that speaks louder than when you say you really love them.

Your words and actions speak volumes.

We need to let God do a work in our spirit, so that we will truly be genuinely able to love people.

So that we can love people fervently as the scriptures tell us too.

One of the most important and most wonderful things is to be able to look our brothers and sisters face to face and eye to eye and say we love them.

If we say that we love Him, we should demonstrate love to one another.

God is calling us to look at each other as He looks.

God looks upon the heart.

"But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on his height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." I Samuel 16:7

God is calling us to put those petty differences aside and to look at their heart as He would.

This goes totally against what the world believes today, but we are called to a higher realm.

We are called to love.

We are called to be able to love with no pretense, no reservations, no ulterior motives.

If there is someone that you have been avoiding, or you just have that awkward moment, that keeps you from seeing that person the way that we should love them, ask the Lord for His help.

Don't avoid that problem, that only makes it worse.

We need to ask God to shed His love abroad in our hearts, even the deep places of our heart.

One day we expect to look face to face and eye to eye with our Lord.

Will you be able to look at Him and tell Him that His grace is sufficient for all your needs?

Will you be able to tell Him that His love was more than enough for all.

Will you be able to tell Him that you had that genuine love for your brothers and sisters?

"If any man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from Him, that he who loveth God love his brother also." I John 4:20-21
