Shoes of peace.
"Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God
"And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into His grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in the hope of glory of God." Romans 5:1,2
After we receive Christ, we have the Prince of Peace at our side. We must have that peace ruling in our heart. That can only happen when we get in God’s Word, and let it sink in, into our hearts.
"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:15,16
The roman soldier had these strong sandal type shoes, which had studded nails that pierced the ground and provided excellent stability as they walked.
The word preparation means to be established or a firm foundation.
“Therefore thus saith the lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.” Isaiah 28:16
Our sure foundation is found in the gospel of peace...
This is referring to the quality or benefits that the gospel offers, such as…it strengthens, it settles, and will stabilize a believer.
The word shod is to simply cover up, over feet.
Our feet should never touch the ground bare.
We are not to go anywhere without that firm foundation of the gospel without walking in peace.
Even when running on an errand be sure those feet are on errands of peace.
We are not called to backbite, tell gossip, or maliciously slander someone.
If someone comes to you, stop them right in their tracks and remind them, especially a sister or a brother about putting on the shoe of peace.
When our feet are not shod with the gospel of peace you can do a lot of damage.
With our feet properly covered there will be less heartache, less heartbreak, fewer tears, and more power in our churches.
We had better stay home until we get the right equipment on our feet.
Peacemakers bring people together, and encourage fellowship.
If we are true believers of Christ that should be enough to bring us all together in peace.
The peace of God will keep us standing firm.
“Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.” II Thessalonians 3:16
